Change To New Provider To Temporarily Affect Food Stamps And Other Benefits

Indiana residents who receive food stamps and other assistance through the Hoosier Works Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system won’t be able to make purchase using their government issued credit cards for two days later this month.

The Indiana Family & Social Services Administration recently announced a temporary outage of the system beginning at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 through 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 27. The temporary inconvenience is due to the agency switching from current provider JP Morgan Chase to new provider Xerox.

Recipients of Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits will all be affected. Cardholders will not be able to make purchases or access benefits at any grocery store or ATM. Card holders should plan to do grocery shopping and or make cash withdraws before or after this period.

The system transition will not change EBT card benefits or PIN numbers, as users will continue to use their current card.

The customer service website will also change to www.ebt.acs.inc.com; however, the toll-free EBT customer service number of 1-877- 768-5098 will remain the same.
