State Road 42 Bridge In Neighboring Putnam County Nearing Completion

Staff Writer

Work to repair a bridge on State Road 42 spanning Mill Creek is nearing completion.

Crewmen from CLR, Inc. were busy paving the section of S.R. 42 on Thursday, with plans to reopen the bridge to through traffic within the next two weeks. The contractor was awarded the $517,646 project in April.

“(The Indiana Department of Transportation) added a couple of things to the job,” project manager Lee Reitmeyer of CLR, Inc. told the Spencer Evening World. “They discovered some joints were bad that weren’t on the original plan.”

Paving and guardrail installation was to be completed on Thursday.

The Putnam County bridge is located approximately three miles east of U.S. 231 North. The scope of work involved rehabilitation of the structure and an overlay of the deck.

Although the additional repairs will delay the completion, the work will be finished prior to the previously anticipated target date of September 25.
