Health Fair Coming To Owen County Fairgrounds On Friday, October 16th

Mobilizing Owen County, a coalition advocating for older adults and people with disabilities, will host its annual Health Fair in the 4-H Building at the Owen County Fairgrounds on Friday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Over 30 vendors will be on site to share information on services available to community members. There will be free health screenings, including blood pressure and vitals, hearing screenings, and flu and pneumonia vaccinations.

In addition to information and screenings, several presentations and activities will be offered throughout the day on topics such as identity theft and fraud prevention, elder law, caregiver education, maintaining a healthy brain, Zumba and Silver Sneakers demonstrations, and more. Door prizes will be given away, and the Purdue Extension Homemakers Club will be bringing affordable lunch menu items for participants to purchase.

Free shuttle services to and from the health fair will be provided within Owen County by Rural Transit. To reserve a ride, call Tricia Goss at 812-829- 6066.

The current members of Mobilizing Owen County include: Area 10 Agency on Aging, Comfort Keepers, Indiana University Health, Owen Valley Health Campus, Purdue Extension-Owen County, VA Health Care, and Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller.
