Lita Sandy To Serve As Masquerade Parade Grand Marshal October 24

Lita Sandy Lita Sandy The parade is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 PM.

If you or any of your children took dance, then you probably know Lita. She taught dance at the Nashville Studio of Dance & Modeling, Tennessee before she opened Dance Workshop in her parent’s garage.

In 1977 Crystal Sutherlin was her first National Dance Competition Champ, with many more student champions to follow. In the 1980’s, two of her dance groups “Heartbreak Express” & “Sensations” performed all over Indiana, including halftime shows for the Indiana Pacers. Eventually “Heartbreak Express” was named Indiana Pacer Sweethearts. Many of Lita’s students have moved on to careers in the Dance, Music and the Theater world. She still teaches some Yoga and Zumba classes. Her daughter Tara is following in her footsteps as she is the owner and instructor of the Dance Workshop in Greencastle.

Thirty years ago she became involved with the Chamber of Commerce. When Clothe a Child needed reorganized, Lita took it over. The parents and staff at Dance Workshop, members of the Lions Club and First National Bank stepped in to assist her and since then it has grown by leaps and bounds. Clothe a Child has helped many families in need. This year’s event is Saturday, December 5th so put it on your calendar and plan to attend. Lita and Dance Workshop also assist in raising money for Breast Cancer, Putnam County Food Pantry, Children’s Organ Transplant Association and Dancing with the Putnam County Stars to name a few.

Lita graduated from Cloverdale High School and attended Northwood Institute in West Baden, IN. She has lived in Cloverdale all of her life. She is married to Brad Sandy the Cloverdale Elementary Principal. She has two children. A son Taulbee Jackson, wife Wendy, and a daughter Tara Gardner, husband Caine.
