Tickets On Sale Now For Annual Owen County Extension Dinner

Mike Lunsford Mike Lunsford “Get on Board with Extension” at the Owen County Extension Board Annual Dinner as the train pulls out from the Owen County 4-H Building on Friday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m. Mike Lunsford, teacher, columnist and author, from rural Parke County will be the featured speaker on the flat car (stage).

Lunsford writes a human interest column, The Off Season, regularly for the Terre Haute Tribune Star and will be debuting and signing his fifth book, The Bridge That Carries You Over. Lunsford has been an English and History teacher for 37 years and has won many prestigious awards including two Teacher of the Year Awards, the Arts-Illiana Bravo Award for Arts Advocacy,

WTHI-TV10 Golden Apple award and Reader’s Choice “Best Columnist” award twice. You will want to be on board for this.

In the observation car, you will have a chance to observe how to “Get on Board with Extension.” Learn what Purdue Extension in Owen County does for this community and how you can benefit from their services. The 4-H Youth Development area, the Agricultural and Natural Resources area and the Health and Human Sciences area representatives will let you know what program are available to all segments and ages of Owen County residents. What would a train be without a dining car? Our dining car will be serving a full meal consisting of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, dessert and your drink. I bet you want to “Get on Board” now.

“Train tickets” for you and your family can be purchased at the Extension Office, located at 180 South Washington Street in Spencer, for $8 per person. You won’t want to miss this train ride for an evening of great entertainment, good food and to learn about what Owen County Extension Programs have to offer you and your family.
