Neese Receives FCA Character Counts Award

The Wabash Valley Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) presented the 2015 FCA Character Counts Award to Cloverdale junior Cooper Neese during this year’s First Financial Bank Wabash Valley Classic basketball tournament.

Pictured are, left to right: Lisa Roeder (Cooper’s mother), Zach Bowman (Wabash Valley area representative for FCA), Cooper Neese, Jerry Neese (assistant basketball coach and Cooper’s father), head coach Patrick Rady, and Cloverdale High School (CHS) Athletic Director James Wade.

FCA chapters across the U.S. regularly present Character Counts Awards to individual athletes that portray the values of the FCA in their lives both on and off the court.

Coaches and athletic directors from each of the 16 participating schools were asked to nominate one member of their team for this award.

The Board of Directors of the Wabash Valley Chapter of the FCA then reviewed each nomination and voted on a winner.

Cooper Neese received an FCA Character Counts plaque with his name inscribed on it and CHS received a $500 award from the Wabash Valley FCA to benefit its basketball program.

The presentation was made at center court just prior to the first game of the tournament this year involving Cloverdale and Shakamak.

Neese was also named to the First Financial Bank Wabash Valley Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging over 30 points per game. (Photo by Brent Ranard)
