(Staff Photo) FFA chapters at Owen Valley and Cloverdale high schools are once again benefiting from the generosity of the Owen County Farm Bureau’s FFA Jacket Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship fund has an annual budget of $650, allowing for the purchase of ten jackets per year. The goal is to build a supply of jackets without names for both Owen Valley (four per year) and Cloverdale (two per year) to ensure that all members have the ability to wear a jacket when one is called for.

The remaining jackets will be given to deserving sophomores at the two schools’ respective year-end banquets. The students receiving named jackets are to be chosen using the following criteria, with Owen Valley receiving up to six (6) and Cloverdale up to four (4) jackets per year: advisor recommendation; making suitable progress or a detailed outline for an SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience); involved in or submission of a detailed plans for at least one CDE (Career Development Event); grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; a detailed plan for at least 20 hours of community service; presenting an aspect of the SAE or CDE to the Owen County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. All recipients must be residents of Owen County.
