Harold E. Clayton, 92

Harold “Dutch” Clayton Harold “Dutch” Clayton Harold E. “Dutch” Clayton, 92, Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Linton, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Meadowood in Bloomington.

Harold was born December 26, 1923, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to George Byron and Claudia Ethel (Sharp) Clayton. Harold retired in 1974 as an mechanical engineer at Crane Naval Base in Indiana. He played the piano and saxophone in a band at several area events and enjoyed music.

Harold is survived by his sister, Florence H. Clayton, of Bloomington, children, Tania (Richard) Glass, of Evansville, Roma May (Randy) Sylvester, of Bedford, Judy (Paul) Sturgis, of Poland, Jill Clayton, of Bloomington, Lora (Brian) Clifton, of Bloomington, grandchildren, Jason, Krista, Joseph, Autumn Glass, Amber Howe, Jackie Starkey, Barbara Sturgis, Lynda Ellington, Paula Malicoat, Leora Sturgis, Phylese Beetz, Wesley, Kristina, Corey, Lindsay Clifton, great-grandchildren, Carter Howe, Alex Voorhies, Megan Byrer, Lani, Lucas Starkey, Kara, Paul Sturgis, Jacob Staley, Kinsley Scott, Dylan Herbert, Daylin, Dru Miller, Claudia Gilliam, Elliot Reynolds, great-great grandchildren, Paisley Byrer, Nolan Frye, Aurora, Laikyn Byrer.

Harold was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Phyllis A.(Hall), whom he married on July 31, 1951, sons, Everett Bee Clayton, Harold Edwin Clayton, siblings, James Harv Clayton, Roma Rogers, Dexter Clayton, and John R. Clayton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 21, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Indiana. Pastor Warren Shake will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, with full military graveside rights.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
