Bill grew up on a small farm near Fortville, Indiana and attended Greenfield Central High School where he was active in 4-H, band, and the Eden United Methodist Church. After graduating in 1979 from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Bill first taught band at Clinton Prairie Jr./Sr. High School in Frankfort.

He married his wife, Janelle, and taught at Adams Central High School in Monroe, Indiana from 1980-1984. He earned his master’s degree from Ball State University. Bill then taught at North Knox Jr./ Sr. High School in Bicknell from 1984-1986. The family, now including son Alex and daughter Janessa, moved to Olney, Illinois where Bill taught choir and band at East Richland High School from 1986- 1991, and was active in his church and community theater.

Bill’s next teaching assignment took the family to Sullivan High School in Illinois from 1991-1996. Wanting to be closer to extended family, Bill and Janelle felt led to move to Cloverdale in 1996. He has just finished his 20th year of teaching music, band and choir at Cloverdale Community Schools.

Bill was named Cloverdale’s Educator of the Year for 2016. He remains active in the community, church, and theater. His retirement plans include golf, bicycling, theater, travel, music, and spending time with his family, including his two grandchildren.

Bill has had a positive impact on countless students, colleagues, and friends through his many activities. He has created lasting and meaningful opportunities and memories for many. Cards and letters can be sent to him at: 53 Logan Court, Cloverdale, IN 46120.
