Unversaw was recognized as an Outstanding Employee in the Land Management Section of DNR.

“I work with forests, parks and those with properties. I was selected as employee of the year for that group (and) it means quite a bit because it came from my bosses,” he said. “They saw that I was doing something special, above and beyond what the normal duties are.”

Unversaw’s focus is on assisting property owners in Owen and Monroe counties with any and all land management needs, but primarily dealing with timber-related issues.

“I’m quite different than most DNR employees,” he explained. “I don’t work on a property, I work with private landowners to help them with their properties, to improve the property or help with management, whether it’s tree planting, timber harvest or any of the state programs, like classified forest. So my day is typically spent with landowners, walking their property. I’ve always said my worse day out in the woods is better than my best day in the office.”

Unversaw can be contacted through the Owen Putnam State Forest office, which is located about five miles west of Spencer off of State Road 46 on Fish Creek Road. For more information, call 812-829-2462 or email Unversaw at Runversaw@ dnr.in.gov.
