by Don VanDerMoere

Did you know that the State of Indiana operates a statewide automated victim information and notification (SAVIN) system regarding Department of Correction inmates? The Indiana SAVIN program is a free, automated hotline that provides crime victims with vital information and notification 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This service will allow you to obtain offender information and to register for notification of a change in offender status, such as offender release. All registrations through Indiana SAVIN are kept completely confidential. The Indiana SAVIN program also offers text and email notification.

Clients can sign up at http://indianasavin.in.gov or call the helpline at 866- 891-0330. Clients may include: up to two email addresses, two text numbers, three phone numbers, and one mailing address.

The State of Indiana also participates in a local offender notification system known as VINELink (Victim Information and Notification Everyday.) This service allows victims to sign up for notifications regarding local jail inmates.

Clients can sign up for that service at https:// www.vinelink.com or call the helpline at 866-959- 8463.
