Neglect Charges Filed Against Gosport Couple In Infant’s Death

Staff Report

David Bradley David Bradley A Gosport couple has been preliminary charged with neglect following the death of their infant daughter on Friday, July 1 at their Harrison Township home.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case against David W. Bradley, 34 and Elizabeth Michelle Harrell-Bradley, 26, Captain Detective Erich Teuton with the Owen County Sheriff’s Department received information during the morning hours of July 1, 2016 that an infant was unresponsive and not breathing at a house on Drunkards Pike in Gosport.

Law enforcement officers and Owen County Emergency Medical Service personnel travelled to the residence and later transported the child to IU Health-Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville where the child, Abigail Roselynn Bradley, subsequently passed away.

Officers contacted the Department of Child Services to assist them with interviews of witnesses. During the course of the interviews, officers determined that the infant’s parents had been consuming methamphetamine for several days leading up to the infant’s death and that there were several other children present in the home during this period of time. On the morning on July 1st, Mr. Bradley awoke to find the unresponsive infant lying face down between his legs and wrapped in a blanket.

Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere advised that David and Elizabeth Bradley were arrested on warrants issued by the Owen Circuit Court I and are now facing charges of neglect of a dependent (level 6 felony).

Prosecutor VanDerMoere issued a reminder that criminal charges are only allegations and these defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
