Cloverdale junior varsity volleyball wins Saturday’s Putnam County Tournament

(Courtesy Photo) The Cloverdale junior varsity volleyball squad traveled to North Putnam High School Saturday to compete in the annual Putnam County Tournament.

In the opening contest, the Clovers defeated the Greencastle Tiger Cubs, 25-21, 25-13.

The win propelled the team in to the championship match where they met up with South Putnam. It was a tight contest, but Cloverdale prevailed, 25- 21, 25-24.

Cloverdale was led in scoring by AnnaMarie Williams with 19 points, followed by Kiley Shedron with 14 points, Kacey Shedron 14 points, and Annika Whitlock 12 points.

Offense at the net was led by Katie Gill with nine kills, with Kayla Perdue adding seven. Macey Jones led in set assists with 14 and Whitlock led the defensive effort with 25 digs.

The Clovers will host Shakamak this evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
