Cloverdale volleyball earns WIC win against North Putnam in five sets

The Cloverdale Volleyball Clovers celebrated a victory over the North Putnam Cougars Thursday night at home in a Western Indiana Conference match-up. The cross-county win was pleasing to fans and coaches alike.

The Clovers bested the Cougars in three of the five sets. Leading the Clovers at the service line was Hannah Rady with 16 points, and a season high of six aces. Kenzie Stoltz also had a season high of 15 points, with seven aces. Adding to the Clover points were Lauren Meek with two, Hailey Thomas with four, Haley Maners with four, Justyce Monnett made six, with three aces, and Payten Simpson with five points and one ace.

Offensively, at the net, Tori Combs had a season high of 19 kills, Kenzie Stoltz season high of 15 kills, Justyce Monnett had eight, Hannah Rady with four, Kassie Wade made two and Hailey Thomas with one. Hannah Rady had 25 set assists.

Defensively, Tori Combs had three blocks and Kassie Wade, one. Hailey Thomas lead the Clovers defensively with 13 digs, Hannah Rady with 11, Payten Simpson made ten, Lauren Meek with seven, Tori Combs with five, Kassie Wade, Justyce Monnett, and Haley Maners made two each.

Coach Kathy Moore, pleased with the win.

“We played well tonight and fought it all the way through to the fifth set,” coach Moore said. “Recently we have been unable to do that. We are making small gains in our defensive play but need to continue to work on coverage.”
