Mrs. Gedert was presented this award as a thank you for the numerous volunteer hours she has devoted to the betterment of the Cloverdale community.

Mrs. Gedert is an active member in the Cloverdale Main Street organization, and also the Action Committee, which is responsible for the Cloverween celebration in Cloverdale. She is also involved in the St. Pauls Ladies Guild. She is a key player in all the Christmas activities that Main Street organizes including the Christmas parade, the carriage rides, and Breakfast with Santa. She is also organizes the weekly Farmers Market in Cloverdale. As stated on one of the nomination forms, ‘she works all year long on all these events to help bring the town together at little to no cost for the parents and children, and as soon as they are over, she starts planning for next year. Not many people realize the timeless hours that Kay puts into our community’s events. She never seeks attention for all she does behind the scenes. She takes pride in knowing she had an active role in helping each organization in our community to come together to offer free entertainment for the children. She is very adamant that all events operate solely on donations, and her only desire is for the children to have fun.

Mrs. Gedert joins previous Civic Award recipients Lita Sandy, Donna Fidler, Dewey Garrett, Todd Lewis, Kerry Shepherd, Joyce Johnson, Mona Smith, Bob Hostetter, Don Walton, Jeff Rich, Rosemary (Davis)Berry, Jack Davis, Dr. Keith Ernst, Eric Hayman, Vera Hughes, Adeline Knoy, Bill Henson, Judy Whitaker, Rod Garrett, Norv Gottula and Wayne Sutherlin. She was presented a plaque by Todd Lewis, Chairman of the Cloverdale Community Civic Award Committee, and her name has been inscribed on a plaque that is displayed in the Cloverdale Town Hall.
