(Photo by Chuck Hess) The Cloverdale Lady Clovers traveled to West Vigo Friday night for the Western Indiana Conference Crossover matchup against the host Vikings, earning a 61-44 win for ninth place in the WIC.

Both the varsity and junior varsity earned similar hard-fought victories, with the JV winning in the final moments of the contest, 37-36.

The varsity Lady Clovers blasted out in the first thirty seconds of the game to 7-0 lead, thanks to a pair of inbound steals in Clover territory.

Both Tori Combs and Hailey Thomas took the ball to the basket for easy lay-ups, raising the level of play and frustrating the host Lady Vikings. Within just a minute of action, the Vikings called a timeout, with the Clovers up 15-0. Cloverdale never looked back.

The Clovers were led by Tori Combs with a game-high 18 points, followed by Hailey Thomas with 17, Abby Walker with 12 and Sammie Shrum with nine. Lakkin Price added three points, while Kelsey Helterbrand scored a basket.

The Clovers travel to South Putnam to face the Eagles for the final game of the regular season on Thursday Jan. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
