Retired Teachers Association Scholarships

The Putnam County Retired Teachers Association will award a $500 scholarship to a third or fourth year college student who aspires to become a future educator. The recipient must be a Putnam County high school graduate and an Indiana college/university student enrolled in an undergraduate program which will result in a degree in education.

Interested students must submit a letter of application which includes the applicant’s name, current address, name of high school, and year of graduation. In addition, there must be a brief (1-2 pages) description of personal interests and activities, experiences in a supervisory capacity with children or adults, and aspirations and progress toward a career as an educator.

Applicants must also include: a letter of recommendation from a Putnam County high school teacher (not a relative), a letter of recommendation from the college/university verifying the applicant’s current enrollment and academic status, a scholastic transcript from the college/university, and other information that the applicant feels is pertinent.

The Indiana Retired Teachers Foundation State Scholarship Committee offers an opportunity for upcoming juniors or seniors who have a relative who is a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association. Applications must be enrolled in an Education Program at any of Indiana’s colleges or universities to apply for a $2,000 scholarship for the 2017/2018 school year. Applicants may apply for both scholarships if they meet the qualification criteria.
