At the Putnam County Library April 25-May 4

Registration Now Open for May Computer Classes

Putnam County Public Library will be offering four computer classes in May. The computer classes being offered are hands-on classes and are designed to introduce patrons to specific tools. On Friday, May 5th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Introduction to Cloud Computing will introduce patrons to cloud computing, demonstrate free cloud software from Google and Microsoft, and explain why cloud computing is the way the world will be using computers in the future. On Tuesday, May 16th, from noon to 2:00 pm, Managing Your Digital Photos will discuss the basics of importing digital photographs from your camera or phone to your computer; give tips on organizing large numbers of photos; introduce new and creative ways of managing photos across different devices like phones, tablets, and cameras; and demonstrate some basic photo editing techniques. On Tuesday, May 23rd, from noon to 2:00 pm, Introduction to Word Processing will introduce patrons to using typewriter like word processing software like Microsoft Word and discuss cheaper and free alternatives to Microsoft. On Tuesday, May 30th, from noon to 2:00 pm, Advanced Word Processing will discuss the more advanced features of modern word processing software. All classes are for beginners and are free and open to the public but registration is required since space is limited. Classes are two hours long with a break. Learn to Play Mah Jongg

Join us for another round of Learn to Play Mah Jongg at the Putnam County Public Library. Janice White will be leading another 7-week course beginning May 2nd and running through June 13th. Classes will be every Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Registration is open now! To register you can call the library at 765-653- 2755 or by emailing Barb Timm at btimm@PCPL21. org.

May the Fourth Be With You at Putnam County Public Library. Stop by the library any time between 5 and 7 p.m. on May 4th for Star Wars related snacks, crafts, and activities for padawans of all ages. Hour of Code, 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Explore the basics of coding in a fun and interactive way with the help of our friends from DePauw! Computer science is a great way nurture creativity and develop problem-solving skills. Hour of Code is for all ages, but this program is aimed at school-age children.

Mah Jongg Game, 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM

For all players who know the game (not the computer version). Newcomers are welcome to watch and learn.

Masterpiece of the Month, 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

Need Crochet help or Crochet Companionship? Jo MacPhail will take her Yarn Perch (located on the balcony above the lobby) every Wednesday evening to help those in need.

PCPL Board of Trustees Meeting, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Putnam County Public Library and Wasser Brewing present the inaugural meeting of our newest book club, Books & Brews. This month’s selection will be any title from the New York Times bestsellers list. Join us at Wasser on the 26th to discuss the various books we’ve read in a social atmosphere with good beer and excellent food.

Sing songs, hear stories and nursery rhymes, move around to music and action songs, and make a craft.

Preschool Storytime, 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM

Hear theme-based stories, move around and sing action songs, make a craft, and have a small snack.

Bridge for Everyone, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

Come to an open Bridge game on Thursday afternoons in the Kiwanis room. All who enjoy Bridge are invited to attend, regardless of skill level. This group will be facilitated by Dorothy Brown. If you have questions, please contact Barbara Timm at btimm@ PCPL21.org.

LibrarYoga, 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

PCPL is offering free Yoga sessions led by certified yoga instructors every Thursday evening. Classes are for all levels of students. Participants should wear comfy, stretchy clothes. Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are available for your use.
