At the Putnam County Public Library June 13th-20th

Yoga Storytime

Caregivers and children aged 3-10 are welcome to join us on Tuesday, June 20th at 11:00 am at the Putnam County Public Library for stories accompanied by playful and gentle yoga stretches. We will laugh and be silly with our bodies. No previous practice needed. Feel free to bring your own mat or use one of ours. Questions? Teen Harry Potter Night at the Library!

Join us on June 26th at 5:00 pm at the Putnam County Public Library for an interactive viewing of the first movie in the Harry Potter series. Follow a script and relive the magic as Harry discovers he’s a wizard! Everyone will receive a gift bag packed with props to help act out the scenes in the movie. Pizza will be served as part of the feast. For teens 11 and up. Costumes encouraged. Registration required. Please register by June 23. Library Parking Update

The parking lot at the Putnam County Public Library is currently under construction and will soon offer new, expanded parking options. During this time, patrons may park in the DePauw lot across the street, on the corner of Poplar and Vine. Parking will be available in this lot until the end of June.

Tuesday, June 13th: Baby & Me, 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM

Sing songs, read stories, play with toys, talk, and laugh with your baby. For Early Talkers (newborns to 24 months).

Music Makers, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Join us on the second Tuesday of every month as we sing, dance, and play with percussion instruments and our parachute! Babies, toddlers, and preschool aged children are welcome.

Stop Motion LEGOS, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Using the app Stop Motion Studio and working teams, children in grades 3-5 will create a short animated video using LEGOs. Use the library’s LEGOs or bring your own. Teams will create a storyboard, shoot photographs, and animate the photographs using the library’s tablets to create their films. Registration is required. Space is limited, so please register by June 10. PCPL has a computer technician available to diagnose and help repair your computer and electronics. Most computer problems can be repaired in 20 minutes but if your computer problem is severe enough, or would take longer than 30 minutes to fix, we may recommend you take it to a professional.

Wednesday, June 14th:

Mah Jongg Game, 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM

For all players who know the game (not the computer version). Newcomers are welcome to watch and learn.

Cooking with Kids, 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Each month we prepare a simple, kid-friendly snack, talk about cooking basics, and read some stories while we enjoy our treat. This month we’ll be making LEGO Brownies.

Ancient Practices for Modern Healing, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM

Practice of AyurVed in Daily Life. This session will teach you how to incorporate basics of AyurVed/ Healing practices into a modern day seasonal routine.

Sing songs, hear stories and nursery rhymes, move around to music and action songs, and make a craft. Ages 12 mos.-35 mos.

Preschool Storytime, 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM

Hear theme-based stories, move around and sing action songs, make a craft, and have a small snack. Ages 3-5 year olds

Bridge for Everyone, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

Come to an open Bridge game on Thursday afternoons in the Kiwanis room. All who enjoy Bridge are invited to attend, regardless of skill level. This group will be facilitated by Dorothy Brown. If you have questions, please contact Barbara Timm at btimm@PCPL21.org.

Brick Club, 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

Build creations using LEGO bricks. Your masterpiece will be displayed in the library!

Yarn Perch, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Need Crochet help or Crochet Companionship? Jo MacPhail will take her Yarn Perch (located on the balcony above the lobby) every Thursday evening to help those in need.

LibrarYoga, 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

PCPL is offering free Yoga sessions led by certified yoga instructors every Thursday evening. Classes are for all levels of students. Participants should wear comfy, stretchy clothes. Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are available for your use.

Looking for a little quiet time? These hours are for you. Enjoy the Imagination Portal without monitors, video games, or music in the background.

Family Film Friday, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Join us for a double feature at the library! This month we’ll be showing two LEGO movies! All ages are welcome. Both movies are rated PG and the running time is 100 minutes and 129 minutes, respectively. Snacks will be provided.

Monarch Butterfly Talk, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Learn about butterflies, bees, and insect gardens.
