Food for Fines and Read Away Fines at the Library

Have library fines? Make them disappear during our Food for Fines and Read Away Fines promotions! During the months of June and July, any adult cardholder can receive $1 off their current fines for every non-perishable food item donated at the Putnam County Public Library. Just visit our friendly circulation staff with your donated items anytime during business hours.

Patrons 18 years or younger can reduce their fines this summer by reading any book, magazine, or newspaper or their choice. For every fifteen minutes you read, we’ll take $2 off your library fines! Just be sure to check in at the Youth Services desk before you begin.

Unfortunately, this promotion cannot be used towards replacement costs or collection fees, but must be applied to fines only. Help us build a better world this summer by reducing your late fees and feeding those in need at the same!

PCPL Book Group

The Putnam County Public Library Book Group will be reading “The Summer Before the War” by Helen Simonson for their next meeting at 7 p.m. on July 10. Set in a small English town, “The Summer Before the War” is a novel about love and relationships, class and community in the weeks leading up to World War I. The library has copies of the book available for checkout and for sale at the reference desk. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, please contact Sarah Myers at smyers@pcpl21.org.
