Established over 100 years ago, the trust is still going strong after all this time.

Mary Allison came to Putnam County with her family in 1826. She saw a need to help the children of Putnam County.

Mary opened the orphanage in late 1800s along with five trustees to help manage the home and began raising money to provide for the waifs.

She believed in her cause so much that even after 100 years has past Mary Allison’s legacy still exists today with the help of 12 board members and school officials keeping close watch on underprivileged children and families in this community.

The Mary Allison Children’s Trust maintains $1,000 donation per year at each of the eight schools in Putnam County. These funds provide financial assistance for healthcare, education and welfare for the underprivileged children.

These funds are unrestricted, meaning school officials can use it for any purpose as long as it benefits the children.
