At the Putnam County Library

Tuesday, Aug. 8:

Music Makers, 11 a.m.- noon: Join in on the second Tuesday of every month sing, dance and play with percussion instruments and the parachute. Babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children welcome.

Community Help Desk, 4-7 p.m.

Yarn Perch, 5-8 p.m.: Need crochet help or companionship? Jo MacPhail takes her Yarn Perch on the balcony above the lobby every Thursday evening.

Based on the Book: Movie Night, 5:30-8 p.m.: This month it’s a movie based on “The Lost City of Z” by David Grann. The movie is rated PG- 13 and the run time is 2 hours, 21 minutes. Snacks provided.

Play Mah Jongg, 6-8 p.m.: For those who know the game. Newcomers contact Janice at DarksidersMaxine@msn.com to arrange for instruction.

Wednesday, Aug. 9:

Mah Jongg Game, 12:30- 3 p.m.: For all players who know the game (not computer version). Newcomers welcome to watch and learn.

Cooking with Kids, 4-5 p.m.: Each month group prepares a simple, kid-friendly snack, talk about cooking basics and read stories while enjoying a treat. This month it’s mini sugar cookie fruit pizzas. Space is limited, so register by Aug. 5 by calling Krystal Mullinnix at 653-2755 ext. 121 or kmullinnix@pcpl21.org, or by filling out the form at PCPL21. org.

Your Child Can Read to a Dog at the Library!

Calling all young readers! The next Pup Tales event at the Putnam County Public Library will be from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. Our trained and certified library dogs are all ears and ready for another day of storytelling. If your child would like to participate, please contact the library at 765-653-2755 to sign up for a 15 minute time slot to read to one of the dogs. Space is limited, so call today!

Family Movie Night at the Library

Join us for a movie night at the library! The Putnam County Public Library is hosting another Family Movie Night on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m. This month we’ll be showing an animated film based on the hilarious picture book “The Boss Baby” written and illustrated by Marla Frazee! All ages are welcome. The movie is rated PG and the running time is 97 minutes. Snacks will be provided.

STEAM Powered Wednesdays

The Putnam County Public Library is now hosting STEAM Powered Wednesdays! Tinker, make, and create at the library on the third Wednesday of each month. Explore arts and crafts, simple circuits, chemistry and more! Each month will feature a different project but there will always be something to make, build, create, or discover!

Our very first STEAM Powered Wednesday will be held on Aug. 16, with two sessions starting at 2 and 4 p.m. respectively. This program is primarily for children 6-12 years old, but all are welcome!
