Health Department releases report

The Putnam County Health Department and Indiana State Department of Health is authorized by law to ensure that foods are safe, wholesome and sanitary; regulated products are honestly and accurately represented; and, these products along with food establishments permitted in Putnam County are in compliance with the county and state laws and regulations. Inspections are done following ordinance, 2005-4-4-2 Retail Food Establishment & Bed and Breakfast Establishment Ordinance, and state rule, 410-IAC 7-24 Retail Food Establishment Sanitation Requirements. These laws and regulations are designed to provide a more comprehensive approach to protecting the customer from contaminated food and food borne illness. Restaurant inspections for July 1-31 are as follows:

American Legion Post 58, July 27, 2017, no violations.

Big B’s Concession, July 27, 2017, 1 critical, Food employee only wearing one glove while preparing food/drink.

Big Dipper of Terre Haute, July 27, 2017, no violations.

Cajun Billy’s Catering, July 27, 2017, one critical, breakfast gravy was at 90 degrees into a two and a half hour cool down process. Needs to be at 70 degrees by two hours. One noncritical, no test strips for sanitizer.

Master’s Hand BBQ, July 27, 2017, one critical, meat in cooler probed at 53 degrees, needs to be at 41 degrees when being cold held.

Putnam Petroleum, July 6, 2017, one critical, milk, eggs and cheese exceeds the expiration date of package. Three noncritical, cooler door and walls not cleaned to sight and touch, unisex restroom trash container did not have a lid, outside trash container lids not closed.
