September 11

One Stitch at a Time Extension Quilt Club will meet at the museum at 10:30 a.m. and will be working on quilt squares from the fair for the Quilts of Valor program. Need volunteer long-arm quilters. Everyone welcome! Call 739-6101 with questions.

September 12

Putnam County Retired Teachers will kick off the annual meeting schedule at noon at the Putnam Inn on Tuesday, September 12. All retired teachers and beneficiaries of the Indiana Retired Teachers Retirement Fund are welcome to join us for the first and future meetings. Other meetings this year will be in October, November, March, April, and May. At the first meeting members are invited to bring donations for the Putnam County Non Food Pantry.

58th Annual Chicken BBQ at the Filmore Firehouse on Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 16 at noon.

Big Walnut Missionary Baptist Church Community Block Party, 5-7 p.m. at 5531 W CR 950 S, Reelsville, follow blue sings south of US 40. Parke County Tox- Away Day. Attention Parke, Putnam and Montgomery County residents! Don’t miss your last chance in 2017 to attend a Tox-Away Day on at the Parke County 4-H Fairgrounds in Rockville from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. (rain or shine).

Tox Away Days are annual events sponsored by West Central Solid Waste District that provide residents the opportunity to recycle or safely dispose of household hazardous items such as appliances, tires, electronics, & chemicals for free or reduced rates.

For a complete list of items accepted, check out their website at www.westcentralswd.com. Residents can call the district office with specific questions at 800-211-2750. Businesses are prohibited.

IEHA is having a special program at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and program at 7 p.m.

Everyone is welcome and bring a guest.

The program is a storyteller with stories from Jimmy Dean, James Whitcomb Riley and others.

It will prove to be a great night so join us at the Putnam County Fairgrounds in the York Building.

Hosted by the Wild & Wacky Embroiderers and Club 16.

Celebrate Recovery meeting. We’re a Christ centered recovery program that is for any hurt, habit or hangup. It is for everybody. We meet weekly on Friday nights with fellowship at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starting at 7 p.m. Meetings will be held at Soul Harvest Church located at 14 Crosswinds Dr. Cloverdale IN 46120. CRADLES of Clay County 4th Annual Golf Scramble will be held at the Forest Park Gold Course in Brazil, Ind. Registration and Lunch begin at 11 a.m. The Shotgun start will be at 12 noon. Contests include longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. Mulligans available. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the event. Your $50 registration covers lunch, greens fees and cart. Mail your registration and checks payable to Cradles of Clay County, Att: Tyler Fischer, 413 S. Walnut Street, Brazil, IN 47834.
