Canaan Community Church dedication Sept. 17

Become a part of history by attending Canaan Community Church, on Sept. 17. September 17 is National Back To Church Sunday and Canaan will be celebrating the refurbishment of the original historic sanctuary with a traditional service and a dedication ceremony. The original sanctuary was built in 1869 and the restoration has brought back much of its original classic charm. The service will focus on the reason there is a church today is because of faithful people of the past.

The church has an extensive history and holds many loving memories of past parishioners. Harold and Thelma Lisby held the record of being the longest married couple in Putnam County, and Wade Millman, the gentleman who held his own funeral, are deceased members who contributed to the history of Canaan.

Join us in this celebration and bring your stories and memories, or make new ones with us on Sept. 17. The service begins at 10:45 a.m. with traditional hymns and service. A pitch-in lunch will be served afterward, with the deaconesses providing the meat and drinks.

The church is located at 3517 N. Co. Rd. 800 E., Coatesville, Ind.
