Richard ‘Dick’ Callahan, 86

Richard M. Callahan Richard M. Callahan Richard “Dick” M. Callahan, age 86 of Cloverdale, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

Born November 25, 1930 in Beech Grove the son of Alva and Marie (Himmelhaver) Callahan and a graduate of Beech Grove High School. He married Frances “Fran” Benton Callahan and she survives.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. Dick retired from IBM in 1987, where he had worked as a tool and die maker and engineer for 23 years. He was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Thomas P. Callahan.

He is survived by his wife, Fran Callahan; son, Michael (Diana) Callahan; daughter, Katie (Kenny) Cooper; son, James (Barb) Callahan; and daughter, Patricia (Randy) Pittman; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
