This year Northview High School in Brazil is hosting the IBA Central Southwest all district band.

The all-district band is open to ninth through twelfth grade band members and provides an excellent opportunity for those students to be recognized for their talents.

This year Ki Hedge, Gayle Baugh, Jimmy Tate, Ethan Stattner and Markus Priest were selected to participate from Cloverdale.

The process for alldistrict selection begins at each local school where the musicians apply to participate. Those applications and their director’s recommendation are considered when a selection committee sets the group roster.

Students who have the honor of participating in the ensemble receive a letter of congratulations and music to practice prior to the event. The entire concert is rehearsed and performed in just two days which requires the students to perfect their individual parts before coming together as a full ensemble.

Directors from many of the schools involved helped with preparation on that day by rehearsing students in sectionals. The weekend culminates with a concert performance by the group on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
