Clovers season stands at 15-3

The Cloverdale girls basketball team continues to have an outstanding season, currently holding a record of 15-3.

Since an early December loss to Indian Creek, the Clovers have rattled off wins over Brown County, Greencastle for the County Tourney title, Covington and South Newton for the Frankfort Lady Hot Dog Invitational championship, Clay City, Northview and most recently West Vigo. During that month-long stretch, the only loss the Clovers suffered was to Class 3A, number 10 ranked Owen Valley (16- 3).

Tuesday (Jan. 9) night’s game with the visiting Vikings of West Vigo proved to be a fairly easy one for Cloverdale, winning 52-25.

The Clovers came out firing, scoring 19 points in the game’s opening eight minutes, leading 19-4 after one. At the half, CHS held an even bigger advantage, 26-5.

Cloverdale continued to pour it on in the second half, leading 36-9 after three and 52-25 at the final horn.

Senior Abby Walker led the Clover offense with 12 points while Sammie Shrum added 11, Tori Combs eight, Lakkain Price six, Hailey Thomas five, Madison Shoemaker four, Arianna McCracken four and Kaylyn Couch two.

Combs owned the stat lines with 10 rebounds, three steals, three assists and four blocks.
