Despite recent rumors of its closing, the Cunot Community Center & Food Pantry in Poland remains open seven days a week.

Jennifer Mayhew, who took over as president for the center in January of this year, said that in recent weeks she has seen as few as two families in a week, down from over 100 when she first took over.

Mayhew wished to confirmed to the public that the center and its valuable community resources will remain open as long as possible under her control. In addition to a community center, the location also provides a food pantry every Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

They will also be hosting a number of community events in the coming weeks. On March 31, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 12 years and younger. Organizers are also planning a garage sale fundraiser for early April and encourage community members to donate their unwanted items. Mayhew said that the center is in need of funds to keep the center going, about $1000 per week. Anyone interested in donating can reach out by phone at 765-795-3461, drop off a check at the center, 5530 State Road 42, or donate online at gofundme.com/ cunotcommunitycenter.
