Auditions this weekend for “Annie” at Putnam County Playhouse

Director Caroline Good will have two sessions of auditions for the Putnam County Playhouse production of Annie. The first session will be Saturday, April 7, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by a second session on Sunday, April 8, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Both sessions will be at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

Director Good and Vocal Director Erik Foster will be looking to cast girls age 7-16 as the orphans (the youngest orphan is 7), a few boys will also be cast in the ensemble.

Those auditioning for the title role of Annie should be between the ages of 11-14 and prepare a short monologue version of 16-32 measures of the song “Tomorrow.”

Adult roles to be cast include Daddy Warbucks, Annie’s rescuer; Miss Hannigan, the head of the orphanage; Grace, who is Warbucks’ secretary; Rooster, who is Hannigan’s brother and his girl friend Lily. There is a large ensemble that takes part in many fun numbers.

Auditioners will be asked to sing 16-32 bars of a song from memory. Please bring sheet music. Amy Tharp will be available to provide accompaniment. There will also be a short dance audition by choreographer Sarah Bond and readings from the script.
