The program hosted 68 wrestlers from pre-K thru fourth grade this year. The elementary wrestling program offers boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of wrestling while competing in team and tournament wrestling formats. The wrestlers are broken up into four teams that are all sponsored by community businesses. Annually the costs of the elementary wrestling program are kept at a minimum thanks to tremendous community support.

The second place wrestling team was coached by Brian Siddons and sponsored by Dental Care of Greencastle. The Cloverdale wrestling program has undergone some changes and the hope is that by building strong foundations of wrestling the program can continue to grow the Cloverdale Middle School and High School programs. Both the middle and high school programs had successes this year and grew in numbers from previous years.

This season the high school team adopted this new style and the middle school will have the two piece uniforms for next school year.

Also the elementary wrestling program will be changing its name and time for the following school year. Cloverdale Elementary Wrestling will now be known as Cloverdale Youth Wrestling including wrestlers in grades K-fifth, also the program will take place in the fall. Hopefully this change will entice some of the wrestlers to continue to compete in the Indiana State Wrestling Association tournaments throughout the winter. Additionally this change was made to help transition the fifth graders onto the middle school team.

Registration for Cloverdale Youth Wrestling will be online and opens Sept. 1, 2018. There will be a mandatory weigh-in night on Oct. 1, 2018 at Cloverdale High School.

Cloverdale Youth Wrestling will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Cloverdale High School beginning Oct. 22, 2018 and ending Nov. 15, 2018. Look for more information and details on how to register in the fall!

For more information about any level of wrestling feel free to contact Cloverdale Head Wrestling Coach Chris Kaufman at ckaufman@ cloverdale.k12.in.us.
