Gleaners Food Giveaway will be at the Greencastle Armory from 10-11:30 a.m. for seniors 55 and older. You must be a Putnam County resident. Bring ID for verification and eligibility. Bring your own boxes. Food giveaways are always on the second Thursday of each month.

Free Community Help Desk - Endeavor Communications. 4-6 p.m. at the Cloverdale Office at 2 S. West Street. Our Future Speed Geeks Apprentices invite you to bring your technology torture to us! We will help set up your email, effectively use your smartphone, navigate the internet and overcome other common technology frustrations. Be sure to bring your smartphone, tablet or laptop!

April 14

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County invites the community to their annual Jonah Fish Fry from 4-7 p.m. at the 4-H fairgrounds south of Brazil on State Road 59. Carry-out dinners will be available. Watch for the drive-through signs. Terre Haute Savings Bank in Brazil is selling advance tickets for a savings of $1 per ticket. Advance tickets will be available for adults, $8 and children five-10 years old, $4 at the bank. Tickets are also available from any Habitat board member. At the door, tickets will cost $9 for adults and $5 for children five-10. Children under five can eat for free. Desserts will be available for purchase. April 17

Owen County Homesteaders meeting will take place at the 4H building at the Owen County Fairgrounds located on South East Street in Spencer, beginning at 6:30 p.m. We have many topics of interest for Homesteader type people. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. Bring your friends and neighbors.

The Cataract Lake Area Crime Watch will be hosting a county-wide candidate meet and greet event at the Cataract Volunteer Fire Department at 6:30 p.m. All candidates listed on the primary ballot in Owen County are invited to attend, each will be given 3 minutes to address voters. All interested Owen County citizens are invited and encouraged to attend.

Come on out to Greencastle Parks & Recreation Department’s Maintenance Shop located in Robe-Ann Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for Build-it-Yourself: Bird House! Open to young carpenters looking for a crafty project to complete and take home with you! (Adult supervision is required for this event) Limited spots available (4 minimum, 6 maximum) Registration ends April 13. Cost of program is $15. Rummage and Bake Sale at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington, Greencastle, Thursday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clothing all sizes, Baked Goods, kitchen items, shoes, books, toys, much miscellaneous. Proceeds from the sale benefit Beyond Homeless, Catholic Charities, the food pantry, food for the needy at Thanksgiving and Christmas, scholarships for high school seniors, to name a few.

April 21

Cloverdale Masonic Lodge is serving a country breakfast 6-10 a.m. Three miles west of Cloverdale on Robert Weist avenue. Everyone welcome.

Season opening of Hope’s Way recreation center for children with special needs and their families. Hope’s Way is located just east of Bainbridge, Indiana and has provided free recreation for families from over sixteen counties for the last seventeen years. Activities include, a free picnic lunch, pony rides, hay rides, stage coach rides and tours of our western town. A free Teddy Bear Picnic is held every third Saturday of each month from April to October. Lunch is served at 12:30 activities follow. These activities are open to all families with children who have special needs. There is no age limit. All are welcome.

This season Hope’s Way’s beautiful grounds will also be available for outdoor and indoor country weddings. Income from these weddings will help fund activities at Hope’s Way. For a small fee, Hope’s Way is also available for birthday parties, youth group activities and church parties and school field trips. Please call 765-522- 5566 for more information.
