Wilma (Malayer) Zimmerman


Wilma Zimmerman Wilma Zimmerman Wilma (Malayer) Zimmerman, 87, formerly of the Roachdale and Bainbridge area, passed away November 24, 2017 at home in Brownsburg.

Born on March 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Burley and Veda Malayer of Roachdale.

She married George “Pete” Zimmerman on November 5, 1960. He preceded her in death.

She attended New Maysville School, Bainbridge High School and Porter College. In addition to farming with Pete, she worked at Cornelius Printing, with her brother, veterinarian “Doc” Malayer, and for the State of Indiana for Governor Evan Bayh. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and supporting the Democratic party.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (York) Smith (Richard) of Brookston and Cynthia (Zimmerman) Weller (Brian) of Brownsburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry, John, James and Wilfred Malayer; and son, Larry “Butch” York.

A Celebration of Life for Wilma Malayer Zimmerman will be held on Sunday, April 29, at the Bainbridge Community Building, 201 N. Grant Street, (Hwy 36) Bainbridge, Ind. 46105, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.
