Clover baseball earns win over Turkey Run

The Cloverdale baseball team traveled to Turkey Run Monday, May 7, handing the host Warriors a 7-4 loss.

The Clovers jumped on the scoreboard first, plating a run in the top of the first. Turkey Run battled back to tie the game at 1-1 going into the second inning.

Cloverdale knocked in two more runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead. The Warriors made it 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. CHS picked up three more runs in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Turkey Run mounted a short-lived rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs, but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors fell, 7-4.

The Clover offense was led by Nick Smith with three hits and three RBI. Parker Watts and TJ Hagymasi each had two hits and two runs scored and Nick Winders finished with two hits, two RBI and three runs scored. Braydon Blevins and Jack Havenor each finished with one hit for Cloverdale.

Watts pitched a complete game for the Clovers, giving up four runs, one earned, while walking four and striking out nine.
