SHAWNA RUSH | SPENCER EVENING WORLD The Owen Valley and Cloverdale boys competed in the Western Indiana Conference track & field meet late last week, crowning one athlete from each school as conference champion.

Cloverdale’s Tyler Kaeff won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.88.

The Clovers had other top three performances including Kaeff second in high jump and third in the 300-meter hurdles and Blake Willis third in pole vault.

Other Clover event finalists included Jordan Berardi fifth in pole vault; Tray Dickison eighth and Dalton Henry 15th in discus; Dickson ninth and Abel Bates 13th in shot put; Andrew Monnett sixth in the 110-meter hurdles; Chase Ashcraft eighth and Seth Geiger 15th in the 1,600-meter run; Elliott Williamson ninth in the 400-meter dash; Monnett fourth in the 300-meter hurdles; Ray Bates 13th and Brady Szczerbik 14th in the 800-meter run; and Ashcraft 16th and Geiger 17th in the 3,200-meter run.

The Cloverdale 4x400- relay team was fifth, the 4x100 team 11th and the 4x800 team fifth.

The Edgewood Mustangs took home the team title with 125.5 points, followed by Northview in second (67), Brown County third (59.5), Cascade fourth (55), West Vigo fifth (53), Cloverdale and Owen Valley tied for sixth with 44, North Putnam eighth (42), Indian Creek ninth (25), South Putnam tenth (17), Sullivan 11th (10), and Greencastle 12th (4).

Cloverdale will compete in the IHSAA track & field sectionals on Thursday, May 17. The Clovers will compete at Terre Haute North with the meet starting at 5:30 p.m.
