Lady Clovers earn hard-fought win over Linton

Amanda York

Coach Jim Spencer and his Cloverdale softball program visited Linton Tuesday, May 8, bringing home a 3-1 win.

The Clovers scored first, plating one run in the top of the second inning and adding one run each in the sixth inning and again in the seventh for the win.

“The Clovers went ahead 1-0 in the second after Kiley Shedron tripled and Sky Lowe sacrificed her home with a deep fly ball,” Spencer explained. “We were able to execute bunts with timely hitting to score again in the sixth and seventh inning.

“Macie Couch made several huge pitches throughout the game as the defense continually made big plays to keep Linton runners from scoring. This was a really solid win for our team as several members of the team contributed in different ways to preserve the win.”

Autumn Lewellen led the team with two singles and an RBI, Couch had two singles, Shedron a triple, and Holly Garretson a double.

Couch pitched a complete game for a record of 9-4. She finished with five strikeouts.
