Stoltz second at WIC

The Western Indiana Conference (WIC) girls track and field meet was held Tuesday, May 8 at Edgewood High School with both the Owen Valley and Cloverdale teams competing.

As a team, the Lady Patriots finished seventh with 38.5 points, and the Lady Clovers were eighth with 38 points. Greencastle won the meet with 112.5 points. Edgewood was second at 97.5, Northview third 71.5, Brown County fourth 63, North Putnam fifth 62, Cascade sixth 47.5, Sullivan ninth 35, Indian Creek tenth 32, South Putnam eleventh with 17 and West Vigo twelfth with 9.5 points.

For the Clovers, the top finish was Kenzie Stoltz second in the 100-meter hurdles. Chelsie Edwards was third in the 800-meter run, Stoltz fourth in pole vault, Madison Shoemaker fourth in discus, Kaya Daub fifth in pole vault and the 4x400-meter relay team of Edwards, Jasmine Blankenship, Kamrie Monnett and Grace Leonard fifth.

Other Cloverdale event finalists included Jasmine Blankenship, 10th in the 400-meter dash; Kamrie Monnett 13th in the 300-meter hurdles; Lily Monnett 12th in the 3,200-meter run; Alexa Wynia 13th and Leonard tied for 13th in high jump; Stoltz sixth in long jump; and the 4x100- meter relay team of Monnett, Leonard, Stoltz and Allison Taylor ninth.

Both the Lady Clovers and Lady Patriots took part in the IHSAA track and field sectional competition held yesterday, May 15. Results will be published in next week’s Hoosier Topics.
