Cloverdale boys golf falls to host Cascade

The Cloverdale boys golf team traveled to Deer Creek Golf Course Monday evening, May 14, falling to the host Cascade Cadets, 207-175.

“We always seem to have difficulty in this match, coming right after the County and Conference matches. This was certainly no exception,” Cloverdale Coach Doug Wokoun said. “No one was really on his game, and it was very disappointing to see the progress that we had been making just go away.”

Cascade’s Jackson Franchville took home medalist honors, carding a 37.

The Clovers were led by Drew Boyette with a 47, followed by Michael Holsapple with a 50, Wyatt Helterbrand 51, Jason Miller 59 and Tyler Harrison 61.

“Drew played 17 great holes at the conference, but he got a bad start in this one and just never recovered. He has had a very good season, but this was not his day,” Wokoun continued. “Wyatt played very well on most of the course Saturday and played about the same. He had some pretty good holes but a couple that really cost him.

“Jason had his best 18 hole round Saturday but could not follow up. He really struggled and didn’t find any consistency through the round. Michael had some of his best golf Saturday in the first nine but fell off in the second. He did some good things in this one but is still making some mistakes that are very costly.”
