Clovers lose close one to South Putnam

SHAWNA RUSH | SPENCER EVENING WORLD The Cloverdale varsity football teamed welcomed the South Putnam Eagles for a county battle Friday, Aug. 17, coming up on the wrong side of a 6-0 contest.

The Clovers had several drives deep in Eagle territory, but were unable to capitalize.

The Eagles scored in the third quarter on a 15-play, 58-yard drive which ended with a run for touchdown by the Eagles’ Dalton Scott.

The Clovers finished with eight first downs and rushed 31 times for 128 yards. One pass attempt was completed for three yards.

Logan Abner rushed 12 times for 52 yards, Parker Watts finished with 43 yards, Jake Smith 24, Da’Shawn HIghbaugh five and Jake Wilkes three.
