Clovers second in three-way match with Southmont, South Vermillion

The Cloverdale girls golf team hosted the Southmont Mounties and the South Vermillion Wildcats Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Clover Meadows Golf Course.

At the end of the nine hole match, the Mounties came out on top of the team scores with a 194, followed by Cloverdale with a 224 and the Wildcats at 225.

CHS junior Sammie Shrum tied for medalist honors with South Vermillion’s Allison Saywhich, both carding a 46.

For the Clovers, Gayle Baugh finished with a 54, Libby Dominguez 59, Grace Leonard 65, Michaela Nees 67, Sarah Baker 69, Alyssia Elmore 71 and Gabby Hamilton 76.

“The girls definitely struggled, being their second straight day in the heat,” Cloverdale coach Kyle Walter explained.

The Clovers will travel to Monrovia Thursday, Sept. 6 to take on Cascade, Owen Valley and the host Bulldogs. The match is set to tee off at 4:30 p.m.
