After the Western Indiana Conference (WIC) girls golf match was postponed due to rain Saturday, it was moved to Monday, Aug. 27, at Forest Park Golf Course in Brazil.

Although the golfers didn’t have to contend with rain, they did battle heat, humidity and still wet course conditions.

At the end of the day, the Lady Clovers finished eighth as a team (436), with junior Sammie Shrum earning all-conference honors, tied for seventh.

“Sammie Shrum struggled off of the tee all day, but was still able to rely on her chipping and putting to finish seventh and achieve all conference honors,” CHS head coach Kyle Walters said. “Overall I was pleased with the girls’ performance. Hopefully by our county meet in two weeks all of the girls can drop a few strokes.”

The Clovers, led by Shrum, also had scores posted by Grace Leonard (102), Libby Dominguez (121), Gayle Baugh (124 and Michaela Nees (127).

Northview won the team title with a score of 372 while Brown County’s Ashley Mastellar won medalist honors, carding a 79.
