Gleaners Food Giveaway will be at the Greencastle Armory from 10-11:30 a.m. for seniors 55 and older. You must be a Putnam County resident. Bring ID for verification and eligibility. Bring your own boxes. Food giveaways are always on the second Thursday of each month.

Gobin Church Free Meal and Community Jam Session - Sharing food and spreading peace at Robe Ann Park in Greencastle from 12-3 p.m.

Parke County Tox- Away Day is coming on from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. (rain or shine) at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Rockville. Residents are asked not to arrive before 7:45 a.m. as it interferes with event set up. Tox-Away Days are sponsored by West Central Solid Waste District to provide Putnam, Montgomery, and Parke County residents with the opportunity to recycle or safely dispose of household hazardous waste such as appliances, tires, electronics, chemicals and unwanted medication for free or reduced rates. For a complete list of acceptable items and printable flyer, visit the District’s website at www.westcentralswd.com or watch for ads in your local newspaper. Residents can call the District office with specific questions at 765-653-2150. Businesses are prohibited.

Painting in the Park by the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department at 11 a.m. in Robe Ann Park Shelter 1. Designed for ages 18 and older, this class will be led by a skilled instructor from Paint and Party who will provide step by step instructions to create a beautiful canvas for you to take home, just in time for Fall. All materials included and light refreshments will be provided. Visit our website at www.greencastleparks.com to register. Spots are limited, 10 participants needed to hold program. Registration fee is $28 per person, registration deadline is Sept. 13.

Purdue Extension Homemakers Association - Sew Many Stitchers meets the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday every month at 5 p.m. in the Putnam County Museum. Everyone welcome.

Ladies Guild Rummage and Bake Sale - St. Paul Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington, Greencastle, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Furniture, Clothing, kitchen items, books, baked goods, much miscellaneous, something for everyone.

Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the one and only Hobbit Day, Brick-Mania style. We’re celebrating Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins with a hard-to-find LEGO: The Lord of the Rings “Frodo with Cooking Corner” Building Block Set!
